Overview

A class action lawsuit brought by employee Carlos Gonzalez against El Prado Cleaning Service, Inc. and its owners Jose Albillo and Carlos Albillo has reached a settlement. The case centers on allegations that the defendants violated wage and hour laws affecting multiple workers. The court granted final approval of the settlement on November 25, 2024, following a hearing in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Under the terms of the $520,000 settlement, eligible class members—current and former employees of El Prado Cleaning Service—are entitled to compensation from the settlement fund. The settlement was reached through arms-length negotiations and determined by the court to be fair, reasonable, and in the best interests of all parties involved. No class members requested exclusion from the settlement, meaning all affected employees are automatically included unless they had previously opted out during the claims period. Class members do not need to take any action to receive their share of the settlement; payments will be distributed according to the settlement agreement’s terms.

The settlement administrator, CPT Group, Inc. , will handle the distribution process, with all payments expected to be completed by July 21, 2025. Additionally, the court approved a $5,000 incentive award to class representative Carlos Gonzalez in recognition of his role in pursuing the case on behalf of all affected employees. The court will hold a compliance hearing on July 31, 2025, to ensure the settlement terms are fully implemented.
