Overview
Employees of Shaw Bakers LLC and Premium Brands (USA) Holdings Corp. may be eligible for compensation through a class action settlement addressing alleged wage and hour violations. The lawsuit was brought by three former employees—Ingrid Alonzo, Damaris Arauz, and Angel Lagos—on behalf of all hourly and non-exempt workers employed by the defendants in California during the period from February 21, 2020, through February 19, 2025. The settlement consists of two components.
The class action portion addresses unpaid wages owed to eligible employees, while a separate PAGA (Private Attorneys General Act) component provides additional penalties for workers employed during February 21, 2023, through February 19, 2025. According to the defendants’ records, each class member has been assigned an estimated individual payment amount, though actual payments will vary based on factors including the number of weeks worked during the relevant periods. If you believe the defendants’ employment records understate your work history, you may file a dispute before the deadline specified in the settlement notice. The court has already granted preliminary approval of the settlement and authorized this notice.
A final approval hearing will determine whether the court fully approves the agreement and authorizes payment distribution. Class members have several options regarding participation. You may do nothing and automatically participate in the settlement, receiving your estimated payment while waiving the right to pursue wage claims covered by the agreement. Alternatively, you may opt out of the class action portion by submitting a written exclusion request to the settlement administrator by August 3, 2026; however, opting out of the class portion does not exclude you from PAGA payments if you are eligible.
