Overview

A former employee named Alicia Reyes brought a lawsuit against American Behavioral Health Systems, Inc. , Specialty Services II, LLC, Specialty Services III, Inc. , and a company owner, alleging that these entities failed to provide meal and rest breaks in compliance with Washington state law. Reyes also claimed she was wrongfully terminated in violation of Washington’s minimum wage law, the state’s paid family and medical leave law, and public policy protections against unjust dismissal.

The defendants have denied all allegations and maintain they would have vigorously defended themselves at trial, but have agreed to settle the case to avoid the costs and risks of continued litigation. The settlement establishes a total payment pool of $2,300,000 to compensate affected workers. You are eligible to receive a share of this settlement if you worked as an hourly employee for any of these companies in Washington state at any point between February 18, 2019 and April 3, 2023. You do not need to take any action to qualify for payment—simply by doing nothing, you will be entitled to your portion of the settlement funds, though you may need to provide updated contact information to the settlement administrator to ensure you receive your payment.

By accepting this settlement, you will give up the right to pursue related legal claims against the company. If you wish to exclude yourself from the settlement, you may request to opt out, which is the only option that allows you to pursue separate legal action against the defendants regarding these claims. Alternatively, you can object to the settlement by writing to the court to explain your concerns, or you can request to speak before the court about whether the settlement is fair. If you choose to object or attend a hearing, you will still receive your settlement payment and will waive your related legal claims if the court approves the agreement.
