Overview
Raymond Vasquez filed a wage and hour class action lawsuit against Red Bull Distribution Company, Inc. on September 12, 2024, in Sacramento Superior Court. The complaint alleges that the company violated California labor laws in multiple ways, including failing to pay minimum wages and overtime compensation, violating meal and rest period requirements, failing to provide sick time pay, issuing improper wage statements, withholding waiting time penalties, and refusing to reimburse necessary business expenses. The lawsuit also includes claims for wage statement violations and failure to produce employment records, along with penalties under California’s Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA).
The settlement covers approximately 1,282 non-exempt hourly employees who worked for Red Bull in California between September 12, 2020, and November 19, 2025. A separate group of roughly 849 employees qualifies as “PAGA Members” for the period from September 12, 2023, through November 19, 2025. Importantly, PAGA Members will receive their share of PAGA penalties regardless of whether they choose to opt out of the class settlement component. The court preliminarily approved the settlement on May 15, 2026, and appointed Mehrdad Bokhour of Bokhour Law Group as Class Counsel and CPT Group as the Settlement Administrator.
Class members have several options available to them. They may take no action and remain part of the settlement to receive compensation. Alternatively, they can opt out of the class settlement entirely, though this does not affect their PAGA penalty share. Class members also have the right to object to the settlement if they believe it is unfair or inadequate.
