Overview

Brian Martin brought a class action lawsuit against Guardian Security Systems, Inc. , alleging employment-related violations affecting hourly-paid technicians in Washington state. The case centers on claims involving technicians who were assigned company-owned vehicles during their employment. Through discovery and investigation, both parties examined payroll records, time documentation, and other relevant materials before reaching a settlement agreement following mediation on June 12, 2024.

The settlement applies to all individuals employed by Guardian as hourly-paid technicians in Washington during the period from July 13, 2020 through June 12, 2024, who were assigned Guardian-owned vehicles. Guardian has not admitted to any wrongdoing and continues to deny the allegations, agreeing to the settlement solely to avoid the costs and burdens of continued litigation. The company maintains that it would have vigorously defended against the claims had the parties not reached this agreement. Class members have several options regarding the settlement.

They may do nothing and remain part of the settlement class, submit a claim if required by the settlement terms, opt out of the settlement entirely to preserve their right to pursue individual claims separately, or object to the settlement. The Superior Court must grant final approval of the settlement before it becomes effective. Once the court enters its final judgment approving the settlement, that judgment becomes final either 31 days after the court’s approval order or, if an appeal is filed, upon the appellate court’s final affirmance. CPT Group Class Action Administrators will serve as the settlement administrator, subject to court approval.
