Overview
A class action settlement has been reached in a case involving wage and hour allegations against GS Moving Services LLC, also known as Eco Movers. The lawsuit was brought by named plaintiffs Olawale Adeyemi and Johann Brudi on behalf of current and former hourly employees of the company in Washington state. The case, filed in King County Superior Court, centers on compensation and employment practices during the period from February 21, 2019, through March 15, 2023. The parties engaged in settlement negotiations through mediation in March 2023 and have now agreed to resolve the matter. The settlement applies to all individuals who worked as hourly employees for Eco Movers in Washington state at any point during the class period, with the exception of company officers, members, and those in positions excluded under Washington law.
It is important to note that Eco Movers has not admitted to any wrongdoing and continues to deny all allegations. The company agreed to the settlement solely to avoid the costs and burdens of continued litigation. If approved by the Superior Court, the case will be dismissed with prejudice, meaning it cannot be refiled. Class members have several options regarding this settlement. Those who wish to participate may need to submit a claim, depending on the settlement’s specific requirements.
Alternatively, individuals may opt out of the settlement entirely, which would allow them to pursue their own separate legal action against Eco Movers. Class members also have the right to object to the settlement terms. Those who take no action and remain part of the settlement class will be bound by the final court judgment once it is approved. CPT Settlement Administrators has been designated to administer the settlement, subject to court approval. The settlement requires final approval from the Superior Court before it becomes effective, which occurs five calendar days after the court’s final judgment becomes final—either when the appeal period expires or, if an appeal is filed, when the appellate court issues its mandate affirming the decision.
