A class action lawsuit brought by Melanie Robles against World Tech Toys, Inc. and related entities has reached a settlement that has now received final court approval. The case, filed on April 6, 2022, in Los Angeles Superior Court, centers on employment-related violations allegedly committed by the defendants. The final approval hearing took place on May 30, 2025, with the court determining that the proposed settlement terms are fair and reasonable for all affected workers.
The settlement resolves claims brought under both class action and California’s Private Attorney General Act (PAGA). According to the court’s findings, 452 class members received notice of the settlement and were given the opportunity to participate or exclude themselves from the agreement. Notably, no class members objected to the settlement terms, and none requested to opt out. Those who did not submit a formal request for exclusion will be bound by the settlement and eligible to receive compensation from the settlement fund.
Class members who took no action will automatically receive their proportional share of the settlement proceeds without needing to file a claim. The settlement includes several components: class members will receive payments from the settlement fund, the Labor and Workforce Development Agency will receive $37,500 as its share of penalties, and Robles will receive a $10,000 enhancement award for serving as the class representative. The court also approved $226,500 in attorney’s fees and $14,554. 11 in litigation costs for the plaintiff’s legal team, along with $12,500 in administrative expenses to process the settlement.
