The case, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, centers on employment-related claims involving workers at cannabis retail locations operated under California Department of Cannabis Control licenses. The lawsuit encompasses all non-exempt employees who worked at least one shift for either defendant company in California between November 21, 2018 and July 31, 2023.

The court has certified a class of 47 participating members who are eligible to receive compensation under the settlement terms. The judge determined that the settlement represents a fair and reasonable resolution of the dispute, noting that it provides meaningful relief to class members while avoiding the costs and uncertainties of continued litigation. Class members have several options regarding the settlement. They may take no action and automatically receive their share of the settlement proceeds.

Alternatively, they may submit a request to exclude themselves from the class, or they may file an objection to the settlement terms. The settlement administrator, CPT Group, Inc. , distributed notice to all class members informing them of these rights and the settlement details. The court found that the notice process complied with California procedural requirements and adequately informed class members of their options to participate, opt out, or object before the final approval hearing.
